The SsangYong Rodius (sold in some regions
as the Stavic) is a large MPV/SUV released in early 2004 bythe
Korean automaker SsangYong Motor Company. It is available in 7, 9, and 11 seat configurations. The engines are the Mercedes-Benz licenced 3.2 L 6-cylinder petrol engine ( 162 kW (217 hp) & 309 N·m (228 lb·ft) ) and the 2.7 L 5-cylinder common rail diesel engine ( 121 kW (162 hp) & 342 N·m (252 lb·ft) ). The car was designed byKen Greenley[1], former head of the automotive design course at the Royal College of Art in London. The design goal was to capture the essence of a luxury yacht. In 2005 won the dubious distinction of being voted "the ugliest car ever made" byvisitors to motoring website CarData, and is described byTop Gear Magazine as a car "that looks like it got bottled in a pub brawl and stitched back together bya blind man"[2] as well as being described as "having a face like a burnt thong" bythe Australian Wheels magazine.[3] Success in Australia In 2006, the Stavic became the best selling turbo diesel powered people mover on the Australian market. Also, in Queensland, SsangYong Stavics are used as maxi cabs.[4] |
